About Earthrise
Earthrise is a post apocalyptic science fiction MMORPG set in the distant future.
In the aftermath of the Third World War, mankind has managed to survive and build a new society: the prosperous city of Sal Vitas. Cloning, nanotechnology and quantum engineering are part of a new reality. Thanks to these technological advances, the human species has become immortal; each individual’s consciousness is stored in a data vault, ready to be uploaded into a cloned body as necessary. New energy sources have been discovered. There is a unified government that takes good care of those citizens who abide by its strict laws. Paradise, it appears, might really have come to Earth, and the people have embraced it.
But not everything is as perfect as it appears. By exercising full control over the Cloning process, Sal Vitas' government decides who will live and who will not, playing the role of God on Earth. Insurgent forces have accused the city's rulers of crimes against humanity. Armed factions fight for Resources and power within the new system. And from the waves of discontent, a rebellion has fomented and formed a shadow government: Noir.
Featuring a unique skill-based advancement system and player-driven economy, as well as extensive, meaningful player-vs.-player combat, Earthrise gives you innumerable choices to forge your destiny. Whether you're a noble soldier in the raging conflict between the Utopia and the rebellion, a criminal hiding from the law or a world-renowned engineer whose power extends into intricate trade and politics, your actions will echo throughout the game world.
Earthrise is set for release in Fall 2010.

We are currently working on making all articles on this wiki original, and all of which are well researched. So please spent a half hour, and help out the Earthrise Community by contributing to this wiki! The Main Page of the wiki will change rapidly as the wiki becomes more developed, and the forums will open up when the main wiki is in a more ready state.
We are also looking for people to volunteer as moderators and administrators, please email me a cover letter as to why you think you are right for such a position.

A Note to Guilds
We encourage all guilds to create themselves a page, under the Guilds category which is already created for your convenience. This Wiki is committed to providing the community with information about everything that is Earthwise related, including guilds. Please write a summary, of your Guilds History, your intentions, and any other relating information. There is no preset format for this, so feel free to put whatever you want within that page (within reasonable limits of course). You may request this page to be protected.

Question of the Week (08/17/2010)
Speaking of devices, whats the skinny? We know next to nothing about these. What do they do? Are they only for enabling abilities or do they have their own stats and effects? How many different types are there? Are they for specific types of characters, like support characters, or are they for everyone?
We are happy to present you with the concept of the Secondary Skills, as well as some examples. We had mentioned them in prior articles, sometimes as “device abilities” or “support skills”.
In Earthrise we had created concept of a skill system, where players can mix different thematic skill lines to create their playable builds, within some boundaries, of course. So, a character build consists of one Primary Skill, which comes into action with a certain weapon equipped and up to two different Secondary Skills that are activated by equipping respective Devices in the inventory of the character.
Every Device in Earthrise activates its own specific skill line that bears the same designation. For example, the Shielding Device activates the Shielding skill line, allowing the player to access any unlocked abilities from it.
Our concept behind the Secondary Skills was to create short skill lines in which every ability counts. Each Secondary Skill has four abilities, each having a greater cost and energy required for activation in comparison with primary abilities. Secondary Skills are very important because almost all support and defensive abilities are included in them.
Currently we have Secondaries that can be divided into three big groups – Defensive, Offensive and Support. They are only 15 for now, but we're planning to release more in future.
The most typical Defensive Skill is Shielding, which makes the character more resilient to normal damage. Another Defensive – the Phasing skill is a requirement for everyone that wants to remain “clean” from negative effects and conditions (which can be pretty nasty in our game). Other defensive abilities work the same way, providing more protection to different types of threats.
A good Offensive Skill example is Precision, which will allow you to maintain your DPS stable through different situations. If you want to pop your most powerful abilities fast, you'll be supposed to go “out-of-energy”, so it's a good idea to include the Energy skill in your build to ensure that you'll have enough energy points through the battle. Offensive skills focus on increasing your DPS or to allow you maintaining it in longer battles, or even providing great damage spike capabilities.
The best representatives of the Support Skill group are the Field Aid and Combat Medic skills. They are both “healing” skills, concentrating respectively on large heals or lesser, quicker heals with some buff effects. All Supports are a great aid for your allies with both healing and buffs.
As an example, if I want to create a character that wields this threatening Shotgun, I'd pick the Strength and Shielding secondaries. Why? Because, Strength would provide me with the “berserker burst” I'd need in the short few seconds of bloody fray and Shielding will ensure my survival while I'm closing in for the kill. But in a good warband with good healer, I'd pick an Intimidate secondary in place of the Shielding – just because I'll use it to deny my opponents their defensive and offensive bonuses when I charge into their lines.
